The Jackson County Recreation/Parks Department operates seven parks throughout Jackson County for recreational activities.

Mark Watson Park

86 Mark Watson Park Sylva, NC 28779 A 10 acre park located in the downtown Sylva Area with the following facilities: 200 ft. fast pitch/softball field (lighted) 280 ft. softball field (lighted) Four lighted tennis courts. Playground Picnic Shelter Five Horseshoe pits Concession Stand Restrooms

Fairview Youth Complex

Big Orange Way Sylva, NC 28779 A 10 acre joint-use school/county park located just behind Smoky Mountain High School and is located just below Fairview Elementary School. The park is home to Fairview Elementary School activities, Jackson County Little League Baseball, Jackson County Youth Football, and Recreation Department events. This park has hosted many local, regional and state baseball tournaments . 325' Lighted Baseball Field/Soccer Field 200' Lighted Baseball Fields Covered Batting cages Outdoor Batting Cages Concession/Restroom Facility Official Scores tower/storage Located near the property is Fairview Elementary School's Nature Study Area. In the Fall season, this park also hosts youth football practice.

East LaPorte River Access Park

6912 Highway 107 Cullowhee, NC 28723 Features: Covered Picnic Shelter Asphalt Basketball Court with 2 goals Sand Volleyball court Two large open field areas for recreational use, frisbee, etc... Bathroom Building, Men's and Women's Bathrooms Gravel Parking area accommodates approximately 40 cars. Water Frontage: Approximately 425ft. on Caney Fork, 635 ft. on the Tuckasegee Gravel Walkway/Put-In to the Tuckasegee from parking lot. Grills: 3 single in ground grills (throughout park), 2 double in-ground grills (on each end of shelter) Picnic Tables: 2 Permanent In-Ground Metal Tables, 3 Concrete Tables, 7 Large metal tables under shelter along with 1 handicapped accessible table.

Jackson County Recreation Complex (Cullowhee)

88 Cullowhee Mountain Road Cullowhee, NC 28723 Two lighted softball fields (315 ft. to center field fence) Outdoor Basketball court Five Soccer Fields (2 lighted) 2 Playgrounds 2 regular swings, 2 child swings Over 10,000 ft. of running trail which includes loop around Cullowhee Valley School. 2 Large picnic shelters available for reservations 6 small shelters Concession Building: includes concession stand, scorers booths for both fields, men's and women's restrooms. Restroom Building: includes 2 water fountains; Men and Women have handicap accessible restrooms with sinks. 2 Handicap Accessible Fishing Piers 1 scenic pond/water garden area The Jackson County Recreation Center is also part of the park.

Ralph J. Andrews Campground

Pine Creek Road Glenville, NC 28736 Andrews Park is an excellent family campground located on Lake Glenville. It gives families a great opportunity to fish, camp, swim, boat, and just relax. Andrews Park is at an elevation of 3,540 feet. The weather in the mountains can be warm during the day with temperatures around 80 degrees, and cool at night with the average in the 50's, so dress appropriately. Andrews Park Campground operates from April 15th through October 31st. For your convenience, there is a park manager on duty at the campground 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Judaculla Rock Historical Site

Drive 8 miles south on 107 and take a left onto Caney Fork road, County Road 1737. Go 2.5 miles then turn left onto a gravel road and drive .45 miles. The rock is on the right, and parking is on the left. There are no restrooms, water fountains, or other such amenities. You'll only find the rock and a wooden viewing platform. Please do not sit on the rock, as any such contact will only increase the rate of erosion.

Canada Community Park

The Jackson County Recreation/Parks Department is currently in the development and construction phases of the Canada Community Park. The Recreation/Parks Department received a North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund grant to construct this park located on the old Canada School property in the Little Canada community. The Park will include the following facilities: Walking trail Picnic shelter BBQ and outdoor cooking area Restroom facilities Large playground area Horseshoe pits Grassed play area Raised outdoor stage area Terraced grassed outdoor seating area Paved parking lot Lofquist & Associates, Inc. of Sylva is the engineering team for this project. Project completion date fall of 2005.
