Jackson County Recreation Department is recruiting for the position for a Greenways Project Coordinator, working under the supervision of the Recreation Director. An employee in this class will perform difficult professional work in the planning, design, supervision and review of the Greenways Master Plan and capital improvements projects for the Recreation/Parks Departmet, conduct public meetings, research projects, prepare detailed reports, conduct field inspections, write and administer grants, prepare cost estimates, help with land acquisitions, and work closely with consultants and appraisers. Must be self-motivated and have the ability to do a wide variety of tasks with a basic educational background and experience in recreational planning, budget planning, construction skills and project management.
Application must have combination of education or experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in parks and recreation and/or related field. One to four years of increasingly responsible experience in greenways, parks/trail development, and capital projects management. Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills are a must. Knowledge of principles, practice and techniques of recreation, land use planning, urban design, and computer skills are beneficial. Applicant must possess and maintain a valid NC driver’s license. The starting salary is $31,238.53.
